Sleeping Erotas Statue

Description

You can find his statue across from Kosti Palamas Square. There is a stone-built fountain, in the centre of which, among the water jets, a sleeping Eros seems to be resting. Above the little god stands an octahedral mono-Ionic building, covered with a shielding dome. The sculpture is a copy of a small Roman statuette, found in Theseus’ House, dating to the 1st century B.C. and is on display today at the Cyprus Museum.

This work was under the auspices of mayor Christodoulos Galatopoulos, in order to beautify the city while promoting its ancient civilization.
